Trail Running in the Drakensberg

Step outside, let your takkies hit the turf, and try our 5km trail run. Our Thrombosis Gorge Trail skirts the Umzimkulu River most of the way and is stunningly scenic. It is a fairly easy gradient, apart from one rather brutal uphill. Once you reach the summit though, the bird’s eye view of the gorge makes it worth the climb! Birdlife and wildflowers abound on this fantastic trail run through the Underberg.

Thrombosis Rock Pools

Have you ever submerged yourself in a mountain pool? The summer rains have not yet arrived in earnest which means the water is crystal clear and the rock pools in the gorge are the perfect level for swimming. The gorge is also home to rare indigenous plant life nestled in the crevices of this magical rocky place.
