1. Pet-friendly accommodation

Our Woodland Cottage and Mangrove Cottage are fully fenced private self-catering cottages set on our farm in the Drakensberg. Able to sleep six adults and four children in Woodland or four adults and one child in Mangrove, these cottages are perfect for the entire family, including your furry friends! "Great gem! Wonderful stay, the right balance, beautiful spot, wonderful owner and pet-friendly. Great advice given on Sani Pass and area. Possibilities for swimming and walking are great. Loved our stay!" - MataTours

2. Cosy cottages with fireplaces

Each of the cottages at Umzimkulu River Lodge are unique, with their own quirky character. All the cottages are even equipped with their own fireplaces, making them perfect for winter stays or romantic nights! "We stayed at Umzimkulu River Lodge for 3 nights and it was a wonderful experience. The room was cosy and beautiful and the fireplace added a lot ambiance to the room at night. The food was tasty every night. The owner was very nice and accommodating. We will definitely be returning." - Dan C

3. Out in nature

From the moment you arrive at our farm in the Underberg, you will feel relaxed. Enjoy a cold drink while overlooking the river and rejuvenate the soul in our amazing natural environment. "We spent a weekend at Umzimkulu River Lodge at the Bower Suite, what a beautiful place. When arriving you see the beautiful trees and rolling hills and smell the fresh air. Already you start feeling relaxed. Our room was absolutely stunning which had everything we needed to make a perfect weekend. Outside our suite, we had our own private garden which led onto a deck which overlooked the amazing river... So many things to do while you are there, go for walks along the river. There are tubes and boats for hire to cruise down the river on the warmer days. A must for any couple or family to visit for a relaxing holiday." - Ian C

4. Lots to do

From fishing and tubing in our river to lazy walks around the farm or more strenuous hikes up the mountain, there is so much to do at Umzimkulu River Lodge and in the surrounding area! "We spent a long weekend away from it all. Umzimkulu was an excellent choice, we enjoyed the fishing, walks, playing in the river on the canoes and tubes, and picnics on the grass. For an easy, laid-back choice, it comes highly recommended." - Eula B

5. That personal touch

As a family run lodge, we take great pride and care in offering a good level of service to our guests and are always on hand to answer your questions or assist in whatever way we can! "What a gorgeous hidden gem Umzimkulu River Lodge is - wish we had discovered it sooner! Our stay was perfect - we thoroughly enjoyed the privacy and the relaxing views from both the patio and bedroom. The scenic walk along the river frontage was great, with the personal touch of benches along the way inviting you to sit and relax - I don't think one can get much closer to a river. We loved all the little personal touches around the gardens and the amazing wild flowers. Stephen and Lynne are great hosts and made us feel most welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner of fresh trout in the dining room with good service all round." - Claire D
